Australia’s beauty, personal care and wellness sector is strengthening its footprint in India, with a strong showcase at Cosmoprof India highlighting growing bilateral trade opportunities in one of the world’s fastest-growing consumer markets.
The Australian Pavilion featured 17 brands represented by 13 companies, presenting a diverse portfolio across skincare, haircare, body care, oral health, sunscreen and cosmeceuticals. The showcase emphasised Australia’s unique natural ingredients, rich biodiversity, stringent regulatory standards and science-led innovation—key factors driving global demand for Australian beauty products.
India, now the world’s fourth-largest beauty market, was valued at approximately US$33.1 billion in 2025 and continues to expand rapidly. The market’s scale, diversity and increasingly sophisticated consumer base are creating significant opportunities for international brands, particularly those offering high-quality, transparent and sustainable solutions.
Austrade played a central role in facilitating Australia’s participation, doubling the size of its pavilion in response to rising demand. The four-day engagement included over 100 targeted business introductions, along with market briefings, retail and e-commerce visits, and direct interactions with key stakeholders across India’s beauty ecosystem.
With more than 14,000 trade visitors and over 345 exhibitors representing 700+ brands, Cosmoprof India provided Australian businesses with direct access to importers, retailers, aggregators and emerging start-ups seeking innovative and clean beauty solutions. The strong perception of “Brand Australia” further enhanced engagement, reinforcing trust in quality and safety standards.
Several key trends emerged during the event. There was a clear shift towards science-backed products, with buyers prioritising clinically proven formulations and transparency in efficacy claims. Sustainability and clean beauty also remained at the forefront, with growing demand for responsibly sourced ingredients and minimal chemical use. Additionally, founder-led and women-led brands attracted considerable interest, as buyers increasingly value authenticity and compelling brand narratives.
The expanding presence of Australian companies at Cosmoprof India reflects a strategic, long-term approach to market development. As India’s beauty and wellness sector continues its upward trajectory, such initiatives are expected to play a vital role in deepening Australia–India trade relations and unlocking new growth avenues for both markets.
