MP Advances Roadmap to Attract International Universities, Building a Globally Connected Education & Innovation Hub

Madhya Pradesh is taking decisive steps to strengthen its position on the global education map, with the state government announcing a comprehensive strategy to bring world-class academic opportunities directly to students within the state. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, during a high-level meeting at Sushasan Bhavan, said that the aim is to ensure that students no longer need to travel abroad to access international-standard education. Instead, global learning environments and advanced academic resources will be developed within Madhya Pradesh itself.

A special task force is being constituted to facilitate the establishment of international study centres in the state. Government officials confirmed that significant progress has already been made, and active discussions are underway with globally recognised institutions. Continuous engagement at the highest levels is helping accelerate the process and expand emerging opportunities for collaborative academic development.

The proposed study centres are expected to bring advanced programmes to the state, including engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, healthcare sciences, management and other frontier technologies. The initiative is designed to enhance the overall quality of higher education while also strengthening Madhya Pradesh’s innovation ecosystem. Local industries, startups and research environments are expected to benefit through access to global expertise and joint research initiatives.

Professor Santosh Vishwakarma has been nominated to chair the newly formed task force, which will examine all technical, academic and legal considerations related to the establishment of these centres. It will also fast-track the agreements required to operationalise the partnerships. Successful execution of this strategy could position Madhya Pradesh as one of India’s most attractive destinations for global higher education collaboration.

The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis is leading several strategic initiatives aligned with the state’s growth priorities—ranging from advanced higher-education frameworks to emerging sectors such as semiconductors, quantum technology, artificial intelligence and agri-tech. To support these ambitions, the institute is engaging national and international experts to provide specialised guidance and scientific insights, strengthening planning and execution across high-potential sectors.

The meeting was attended by the institute’s Vice-Chairman Dr. Rajiv Dixit, Principal Secretary and CEO Gulshan Bamra, Director Rishi Garg and other senior officials, underscoring the state’s commitment to shaping Madhya Pradesh into a future-ready, globally connected hub for higher education and innovation.
