MEA Announces 84th Edition of KIP: Diaspora Youth Encouraged to Apply

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, has invited applications for the 84th Know India Programme (KIP), scheduled from 7 to 26 December 2025. Indian diaspora youth (excluding NRIs) aged 21–35 years may apply by sending the filled application form and documents to the High Commission of India, Canberra at ppt.canberra@mea.gov.in by 14 November 2025.

Launched in 2003–04, KIP introduces diaspora youth to India’s heritage, governance, culture, and contemporary progress. Preference is given to applicants from Girmitiya countries.

Key Features of KIP

  • Presentations on India’s polity, economy, history, and culture.
  • Visits to Parliament, Election Commission, Rashtrapati Bhavan, and meetings with dignitaries.
  • Exposure to India’s achievements in S&T, IT, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, startups, digital systems (India Stack, JAM), defence, agriculture, education, and tourism.
  • Cultural immersion through Yoga, Ayurveda, classical arts, and visits to historical sites.
  • Overview of flagship schemes such as Skill India, Digital India, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, and StartUp India.
  • Visits to industries, research institutions, media organisations, and leading universities.
  • Travel to one or two Indian states to experience India’s cultural diversity.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Be Persons of Indian Origin aged 21–35 (NRIs not eligible).
  • Hold OCI/PIO documentation, or provide a certified undertaken of Indian origin.
  • Be university graduates (students not eligible).
  • Be proficient in English.
  • Preferably be first-time visitors to India.
  • Not have attended any previous KIP or similar MEA-funded programme.

Programme Arrangements
MEA will provide hospitality, internal travel, and return airfare (participants must pay 10% of airfare). Selected candidates will receive a gratis visa. Participants must submit:

  • Valid international travel and medical insurance for the full duration.
  • A medical fitness certificate.
  • All participants must submit a 750–1000-word programme report to receive their certificate.

Role of Missions and MEA

Indian Missions will verify eligibility, confirm PIO status when required, arrange air tickets, conduct pre-departure briefings, and ensure submission of required documents. MEA will select participants, maintain a reserve list, coordinate programme logistics, liaise with state authorities, and organise the concluding session.
