The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF), Government of Australia, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration in the area of food safety. The agreement was formalized on 24 September 2025 at the FSSAI Headquarters in New Delhi.
The MoU was signed by Rajit Punhani, CEO, FSSAI, and Tom Black, First Assistant Secretary, DAFF, Australia, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.
This MoU marks a significant milestone in the growing partnership between India and Australia, underscoring their shared commitment to ensuring safe, high-quality food systems. The collaboration aims to strengthen cooperation through the exchange of best practices, knowledge sharing, harmonization of import procedures, and other technical and capacity-building initiatives in the field of food safety.
Both sides expressed confidence that this partnership will deepen institutional linkages, promote mutual learning, and contribute to the advancement of global food safety standards.
