Australia’s Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Chris Bowen, visited India this week to strengthen bilateral collaboration on renewable energy and accelerate the momentum of the India–Australia clean energy partnership.
During his visit to New Delhi, Minister Bowen met Pralhad Joshi, India’s Minister of New and Renewable Energy, for the inaugural Renewable Energy Partnership Ministers Meeting under the elevated India–Australia Renewable Energy Partnership. The discussions focused on key initiatives, including the delivery of the India–Australia Green Hydrogen Taskforce recommendations report, submitted by the independent Taskforce to guide both governments on future cooperation and emerging opportunities.
Both Ministers welcomed the progress on establishing the India–Australia Rooftop Solar Training Academy in Gujarat, a major capacity-building initiative designed to support skills development and enhance renewable energy deployment.

Minister Bowen and Minister Joshi also engaged with leading renewable energy industry representatives from both countries to explore future areas of collaboration under the partnership.
At the 5th India–Australia Energy Dialogue, also held in New Delhi, Minister Bowen met with India’s Minister for Power, Manohar Lal, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation on energy security, clean technologies, and accelerating the global transition to net-zero.
As part of the visit, Minister Bowen delivered the annual oration for the Australia India Institute, highlighting new avenues for Australian industry in the global energy transition. He was accompanied by members of the Business Council of Australia, the Smart Energy Council, and representatives from leading Australian universities, emphasising the significant opportunities for bilateral collaboration in innovation, investment, and clean energy deployment.
